My addiction to fast food

Not sure where to start with this one, guess I will just dive right in. I am not sure when my love for fast food started, but as long as I can remember it has been a staple in my daily diet........Ya I said daily! And as of late my craving's for it have become more and more noticeable.

The other day I brought half of a pretty good burrito from a descent Mexican restaurant to work with me, I also brought a 10 pack of chicken nugget's from McDonald's with me. Lunch time came around and I had forgotten that I even had the nuggets with me. I opened the fridge to get my burrito and there it was, staring me right in the face- THE NUGGETS!!!

I proceeded to reach past them and grab my burrito. I wanted so bad to eat the nugget's also but I knew I had a good quality meal and I should just leave them alone. As I sat down to eat my burrito I started to make up reasons in my head why I should not eat it and eat my nugget's instead. After about the fourth bite of the burrito I had finally done it, I had talked myself into throwing the burrito away.

Well now with my main lunch gone what would I do now? Oh but of coarse, how could I forget! I had those tiny little delicious nuggets waiting for me in the fridge. I anxiously headed to the kitchen and dived into the fridge to claim my prize, my mouth was starting to water at this point. I opened the box and to my surprise I found 10 tiny, shriveled up, dried out crusty little nuggets. They didn't look good at all. actually kind of gross looking. But I still proceeded to heat them up in the microwave and eat them.

As I was eating them I noticed that they did not taste very good either. But none the less I continued on. Even though they didn't look or taste good, I still found comfort in eating them. My body had grown used to eating this type of food and it relaxed me, soothed me, even brought a little joy ( I usually have zero joy at work so this says something). I look back at that day now and I  realize that I have a problem, I am addicted to fast food.

Now you might be asking, why now at 29 are you just noticing that you might have a problem? Well recently my health has started to deteriorate. Just last week I was prescribed 2 different medications for two different issues. One was for high blood pressure and the other is for under active thyroid. And besides that I have had back problems for the last three years primarily due to my weight and lack of exercise. But that's OK, I just numb that up with pain killers.......Not OK!!!!! Not for a 29 year old!

So here we are. Over weight, over medicated, and over stressed. I think A change might be in order. I have been thinking all weekend about things I can do to improve my health, exercise, lose weight, eat HEALTHY! Whoa, what was that last one - eat healthy???? And how do you propose you start doing that???? Well one way I thought would be a good start is to eliminate the fast food from my diet. Originally I told my self if I could quit eating that garbage for a year then I could quit for good. Well that is probably true but I do not want to set a goal that I fear I won't achieve. So I am going to start small and work my way up. I will start with a month, I figure if I can go a month that would be pretty good. And if I can go a month then why can't I go another when that month is up.

My goal is to be fast food free by this time next year. I mean free of craving's and pigging out on 20 piece nuggets. I want to be free from the bondage of fast food and live long enough to see my kids graduate. So I hope you will root me on during my journey and pray for me as I struggle with the temptation of the golden arch's. I will keep you posted as I start this new chapter in my life. Thanks......
